As indicações para o Game Awards 2015 já foram lançadas e The witcher 3 vem contudo, sendo que foi indicado para sete premiações no total, incluindo como melhor jogo do ano. Os jogos que disputam com ele são Super Mario Maker, Fallout 4, Bloodborne e Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
The Witcher 3 também está concorrendo as categorias de melhor narrativa, melhor direção de arte, melhor trilha sonora, melhor performance e melhor jogo de RPG (role-playing game). Além de todas essas indicações, a desenvolvedora do jogo, CD Projekt Red, foi indicada como melhor desenvolvedora do ano, concorrendo com nomes de peso, como Bethesda Game Studios, FromSoftware (desenvolvedora do Bloodborne e da franquia Dark Souls), Kojima Productions e Nintendo.
Produzido pelo veterano da mídia de games Geoff Keighley em parceria com publicitários e patrocinado pela Verizon, Game Awards 2015 será transmitido ao vivo, pelo Twich, do Microsoft Theater, em Los Angeles, dia 3 de dezembro. Ainda mais, Todas as categorias foram escolhidas por um juri composto de 32 representantes da midia de games, com um único representante brasileiro o Theo Artioli Azevedo do Site UOL jogos.
